The Tokyo International AM Summit was held at 11:00 on September 18, the first day of the AM Show, in a conference room at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight). Participants, including observers, numbered 22 people representing five countries, nine organizations and one region. The American Amusement Machinery Association (AAMA) reported that it had drafted an educational program for parents concerning coin-operated video games in collaboration with the Amusement & Music Operators Association (AOMA), and presented it to members of the U.S. Senate. Next, AAMA reported on shows held in various parts of Asia, noting that over 2,000 buyers took part in the show in India and this was a sign of a promising future for the amusement machinery industry. Next, AOMA reported that the one-dollar bill will probably be discontinued when there are one billion one-dollar coins in circulation. The British Amusement Machine and Catering Trades Association (BACTA) expressed concerns regarding coin insufficiency for the two-pound coin to be issued in October 1997 and the Eurocurrency, the common European currency to be circulated from 2002. In a report on the findings of the FY 1995 Amusement Industry Survey conducted by three industry associations, JAMMA noted that total industry sales were approximately 1,6225 Billion yen, surpassing sales the previous year by nearly 13%. | |||
