| Summary of AM Industry Survey | ||
| With the cooperation of the All Nippon Amusement Machine Operators' Amusement Union (AOU;Shozo Irie, Chairman) and the Nihon Shopping Center Amusement Park Operators Association(NSA; Hiroshi Uchida, Chairman), JAMMA conducted its annual fact-finding survey on the FY1999amusement industry, the seventh of such surveys so far. It targeted 1,104 companies engaged in the manufacturing, sale, and operation of commercial-use amusement machines as well as makers of game machines for home use, and was expanded to include companies other than members of above associations. Data was compiled from the 335 companies that responded. The market scale of the amusement industry in FY1999 was 1.8745 trillion yen, a decrease of 2.4% over the previous year and the second year in a row that the market has contracted year-on-year. Although sales of commercial-use amusement machines declined 5.6% over the previous year, this figure was a slight improvement in the rate of year-on-year decline. The decline in operation sales was virtually unchanged over the previous year. On the other hand, sales of game machines for home use, which had shown continual growth since this survey was begun, declined for the first time. | ||
