| JAMMA Holds 13th Regular General Meeting

| The Japan Amusement machine Manufacturers Association (JAMMA) held its 13th regular general meeting at Hotel Okura, Tokyo, on may 23, 200l, with the attendance including three guests from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. President Yoshihito Kakihara of JAMMA, in his opening address to the meeting, expressed his firm determination to reform JAMMA and revitalize the AM (amusement machine) industry, declaring: "It is said that now is the time for IT revolution and I am convinced that our AM industry should be the important motive force for construction of an information-intensive society. During last fiscal year, we worked together with AOU (Amusement machine Operators' union) and NSA (Nihon Shopping Center Amusement Park Operator's Association) to reactivate our industry. This fiscal year, however, we have decided to set up a Special Committee to Work Out New Vision of AM Industry' to concentrate our efforts on drastic reform of JAMMA. Its task is to work out new visions for the industry and JAMMA in this new century through exchange of views with a wide range of JAMMA members and find out solutions for general and long-term problems facing us." The meeting then took up Fiscal Year 2000 reports on business and settlement of accounts and FY200l business and budget, plans and unanimously approved them as originally presented. New business plans include " Setting up of the Special Committee to Work Out New Visions of AM Industry," " Researches on JAMMA EC (electronic commerce) system'' and " Preparation of Action Guide for Businesses to Survive and Prosper Together, " all intended to revitalize the new sluggish AM Industry. Selection of new officials, one director and one auditor, done by the Board of Directors to fill the vacancies occurcd during last fiscal year, was referred to the meeting as stipulated in the JAMMA Articles of Association and approved unanimously, marking the start of FY2001 JAMMA activities aimed at a great leap forward of the amusement business. |
