AM Industry Market Size Up 14.7% Total Sales Exceeds ¥2 trillion Due to Console Machines' Advance

JAMMA, jointly with AOU(Amusement Machine Operators' Union) and NSA (Nihon Shopping Center Amusement Park Operator's Association), this year conducted the 9th market survey of the amusement machinery indusrty on the basis of the industry's performances in fiscal 2001. The resulte of the survey was compiled and announced lately.
The business of the survey was consigned to the Institute for Free Time Design and the survey was conducted from May to July, 2002.

A total of 1,028 samples were chosen from among the enterprises engaged in the manufacture and/or sale of coin-op machines, operators of coin-op machines and makers of console game machines, irrespective of the membership in the three associations. As the result, more than 300 enterprises responded to the questionnaire.

Brief Summary of Survey Results

The amusement machinery industry's total sales in fiscal 2001 amounted to ¥2,233.5 billion, up 14.7% from previous fiscal year, due to the large, 24.4% gain of the sales of console game machines as in the previous year. As a result, the industry's market size exceeded the ¥2 trillion line for the first time since the start of the market survey.
