A series of recreation events were held across the nation on November 23, 2003, celebrating the ''Game Day,'' which coincides with the Labor Thanksgiving Day in Japan. The events were sponsored by Japan Amusement Machinery Manufacturers Association (JAMMA), All Nippon Amusement Machine Operators' Union (AOU), and Nihon Shopping Center Amusement Park Operator's Association (NSA), with this year's theme being: ''Let's Give Big Cheers to the Hard Working People of Japan.'' The JR Tokyo Station served as the venue for the main programs, and various other events were organized throughout the country, drawing a large crowd of game fans. What's more, as part of the ''Amusement Love Aid'', many children in foster care facilities were invited to take part in the programs and enjoyed themselves playing games. It was part of the community service initiative to provide recreation for people with less opportunity to visit amusement parks and arcades. |
